Yields and Equivalents
The unusual shape and lines outside and inside this OXO Measuring cup makes it the ideal tool for measuring liquids!
Note: These yields and equivalents do not represent serving sizes (like for a diabetic meal plan, for example); they're given as example quantities to expect from a given amount of a given food:

Apple
1 medium, chopped = about 1 cup
3 medium = 1 pound
3 medium = 2 3/4 cups pared and sliced

Beans, Dried
1 cup = 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 cups cooked

Butter
1 ounce = 2 tablespoons
1 stick = 1/4 pound or 4 ounces
1 cup = 2 sticks (1/2 pound or 8 ounces)
2 cups = 4 sticks (1 pound or 16 ounces)

Celery
2 medium stalks = 3/4 cup chopped

Chocolate
1 ounce = 1 square
1 cup chips = 6 ounces

Cheese
1 cup shredded = 1/4 pound or 4 ounces

Cranberries
1 pound = 4 cups

Crumbs
1 cup cracker crumbs = 28 saltine crackers or 14 square graham crackers or 24 round crackers
1 cup bread crumbs =
1 1/2 slices soft bread
4 slices dry bread
1 cup vanilla wafer crumbs = 22 wafers

Eggs
1 large egg = 1/4 cup
1/4 cup liquid egg replacement = 1 large egg

Fruits
(also see Apple, Cranberries, Lemon, Orange)
Banana: 4 small = 2 cups sliced or 1 1/3 cups mashed
Cherries: 1/2 pound = 1 cup pitted
Grapes: 1 pound = 2 cups halved
Peach: 1 medium = 1/2 cup sliced
Pear: 1 medium = 1/2 cup sliced
Rhubarb: 1/2 pound = 2 to 4 stalks = 1 cup cooked
Strawberries: 1 quart = 2 cups sliced

Garlic
1 clove fresh = 1/2 teaspoon chopped = 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder

Green, Red, or Yellow Pepper
1 large = 1 cup diced

Herbs
1 tablespoon snipped fresh = 1 teaspoon dried = 1/2 teaspoon ground

Lemon
Juice from 1 lemon = ~3 tablespoons
Grated peel of 1 lemon = ~1 teaspoon

Macaroni or Tube-Shaped Pasta
1 cup = 4 ounces = 2 cups cooked

Mushrooms, fresh
8 ounces = 2 1/2 cups sliced = 1 cup cooked or steamed
1 cup sliced and cooked = 1 4-ounce can, drained

Mustard
1 teaspoon dry = 1 tablespoon prepared

Nuts
1 cup chopped = 1/4 pound or 4 ounces
1 cup whole or halved = 4 or 5 ounces

Olives
24 small = 2 ounces = 1/2 cup sliced

Onion
1 medium chopped = 1/2 cup
1 medium = 1 teaspoon onion powder or 1 tablespoon dried minced

Onion with Green Top (Scallion)
1 sliced = ~1 tablespoon

Orange
Juice from 1 orange = 1/2 cup
Grated peel of 1 orange = ~2 tablespoons

Potatoes
3 medium = 2 cups sliced or cubed
3 medium = 1 3/4 cups mashed

Rice
1 cup white rice (long grain) = ~7 ounces = 3 to 4 cups cooked
1 cup white rice (instant) = 2 cups cooked
1 cup brown rice = 3 cups cooked
1 cup wild rice = 3 to 4 cups cooked

Spaghetti and Noodles
8 ounces = 4 cups cooked

Tomatoes
1 cup canned = 1 1/3 cups fresh, cut up and simmered for 5 minutes
