If you're interested in weight loss, then you'll probably want to read up on nutrition, even if you feel like you know plenty of info already. The more you know about diet, like whether or not you want to eat lots of whole foods, the better prepared you'll be to make your own nutritional plan.

If you like cookbooks that show lots of pictures, then you'll love Finger Food, published by Laurel Glen. This book shows a  picture for each recipe!

Take a look at these sample recipes to see what I mean:

Spicy chicken goujons breast fingers indian influence recipe Spicy chicken goujons

3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
all-purpose flour, for coating
vegetable oil, for deep-frying
1/2 tsp. ground turmeric
1/2 tsp. ground coriander
1/2 tsp. ground cumin
1/2 tsp. chili powder

Cut the chicken breast into thin strips and toss in all-purpose flour, shaking off the excess.

Fill a deep, heavy-bottomed pan one-third full of oil and heat to 350°F or until a cube of bread dropped into the oil browns in 15 seconds. Cook the goujons for 3 minutes or until golden. Drain on crumbled paper towels and keep warm.

Mix together the turmeric, coriander, cumin, chili powder, and 1 teaspoon salt (editor note: or sea salt to taste). Toss the goujons in the mixture, shaking off the excess.

fortune cookie cookies homemade Fortune cookies:

3 egg whites
1/2 cup confectioners' sugar, sifted
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1/2 cup all-purpose flour

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a baking sheet. Draw three 3-inch circles on a sheet of baking parchment,

turn over, and  use to line the baking sheet.

Place the egg whites in a clean, dry bowl and whisk until just frothy. Add the confectioners' sugar and butter and stir until smooth. Add the flour, mix until smooth, and leave for 15 minutes. Using a flat-bladed knife, spread 2 level teaspoons of mixture over each circle. Bake for 5 minutes or until the cookies are slightly brown around the edges.

Working quickly, remove the cookies from the baking sheets by sliding a flat-bladed knife under each one. Place a written fortune cookie in each cookie. Fold in half, then in half again over the edge of a bowl. Keep a dishcloth handy to use when folding the cookies. The baking sheet is hot and you need to work fast, so be careful not to burn your hands. Cool on a wire rack. Cook the remaining mixture the same way. Make two or three cookies at a time; otherwise they will harden too quickly and break when folding.
